Everyone knows it’s important to add sunscreen to your daily skin care routine during the summer. But if you are looking for a few more skin care tips that will help protect your skin and keep it healthy this summer, check out our 7 Summer Skin Care tips that work for us.

Tip #1: Don’t forget your lips!

Putting sunblock on is so important to protect your skin from not only sunburn but skin care too. Though, if you forget to protect your lips too, you’ll feel it the next day. That’s right, your lips can get sunburned too! These days many lip balms and chapsticks come with an SPF level that works wonders and keeps your lips from chapping too. It’s a win-win.

Tip #2: Wear a fancy hat!

Sunglasses are a must on a typical summer afternoon, especially out on the water. But, so should a hat! Hats can not only offer shade and protection for your face, but also keep your scalp from burning – an very unpleasant experience one should avoid! Baseball caps are a great start, but wearing a larger fashionable hat can offer more protection and style!

Tip #3: Take a cold shower!

Did you know hot showers after sun exposure increases dry skin? Instead, enjoy a cold shower after excess sweating and this will not only help keep skin clear but decrease acne breakouts and reduce dry skin.

Tip #4: Once a week, exfoliate well!

Not only do people sweat more in the summer, but there’s a chance your skin picks up a bit more dirt and grime in the summer too. Hiking, outdoor sports, playing outside with kids – all of these activities gets you outside in the elements, and everything from air pollution to dirt can clog your pores. So it’s best to exfoliate well at least once a week – we recommend using any of our organic, all natural facial scrubs or body scrubs. Exfoliating will helps reduce acne and breakouts too.

Tip #5: Moisturize, moisturize!

Everyone knows winter brings dry skin, but your skin isn’t off the hook in the summer. It’s important to moisturize your skin daily, using facial creams and your favorite body lotion. (And use our 24kt Gold Serum around your eyes!)

Tip #6: Eat melon!

Summer picnics aren’t complete without watermelon! And watermelon is a super food when it comes to your skin! Melons contain lycopene and vitamins A and C. These help your body fight the free radicals that cause cell damage and signs of aging. They are also full of water, which helps hydrate your skin.

Tip #7: Antioxidants are key in the summer

Summer berries come packed with antioxidants. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries – any berry is worth adding to your daily menu because the antioxidants help protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun.
